Artists are wildly misunderstood by society. One of my primary objectives in making films is to address this situation. When I first considered Nikki as a possible subject for a documentary, I suspected that she would be a compelling subject. Her bohemian past, strong opinions about art and the sacrifices she has made in pursuit of her art illustrate both her strength and her vulnerabilities. And in the tradition of all great artists, she wasn’t afraid to reveal herself to her audience.
